Selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the eighth round (245th overall) of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft ... named Gatorade's New Mexico Player of the Year at Moriarty High School, which finished as state runners-up ... led the Minor Leagues with a 12.75 SO/9 IP ratio and a .154 opponent average in 2008 ... led the Minors with 176 strikeouts in just 123 innings and led all full-season Minor Leaguers with a 12.88 SO/9 IP and a .195 opponent average in 2009 ... named Most Valuable Player for Bowling Green ... threw a seven-inning no-hitter at Asheville (Rockies) with 12 strikeouts on June 6, 2009 ... led the Minors with 208 strikeouts in 2010, becoming the first Minor Leaguer to eclipse 200 strikeouts since Francisco Liriano in 2005, and the first Florida State League pitcher to do so since 1971 ... ranked No. 27 among Top 50 Prospects by MLB.com entering 2011 season. ... Command was a small concern entering the season, but he showed great strides in Double-A over the first half of the season, earning a July promotion to Triple-A and putting him on a short list of best pitching prospects in the game.
